Two cycling projects – a longer bike lane on Kreuzstrasse, a cycle path on Bernerstrasse
In Riesbach, a bike lane is being extended to Mühlebachstrasse. In Altstetten, the Juchhof bus stop is being made step-free and gets a separate cycle path.
Kreuzstrasse (Kreis 8)
Until now, cyclists on Kreuzstrasse shared the road with cars up to Kleinstrasse; only after that was there a bike lane. That lane is now being extended to Mühlebachstrasse. At Kreuzbühlstrasse, cyclists will also be able to ride straight on towards the university area after the bike traffic light, and turn right indirectly towards Forch. The aim is to connect Riesbach and Hottingen better.
Work starts on Monday, 5 October 2026 and takes about a week. It is an interim solution until an already planned project permanently reorganises traffic on Kreuzstrasse and Falkenstrasse.
Bernerstrasse, Juchhof stop (Kreis 9)
- The Juchhof stop gets new raised kerbs for step-free boarding.
- Heading out of town, the bus bay is removed and the bus will stop in the lane. Because the road has two lanes there, traffic can still pass.
- Heading into town, a cycle path will run to the junction with Bändlistrasse, separated from pedestrians.
- Old water pipes will be replaced and cables laid at the same time.
Cost: CHF 2.70 million. Construction from autumn 2026 to spring 2027.
